Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.

Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.

But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?

Caution: May cause accidental aspiration of tea or coffee. Do not read in a public place where loud laughter is inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppy cuddling and a snarky pair of underwear

My Review:

This is the third book of the partnership between my dear Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy and met my expectations because Blake was exactly the kind of character that always wins me. Humorous, full of infamous phrases and often inappropriate behavior, he joins my group of favorite characters created by Elle, along with my dear Dean Di Laurentis (from the Off-Campus series) and Wade (from the Royals series, written in partnership With Jen Frederick under the pen name Erin Watt).

In Us we meet Dean, the clueless and loud neighbor who fill the story with joy and witness the beginning of his relationship with Jamie’s sister, Jess. The more hilarious parts of the story involved him so I was sure this book would be irresistible. And it was. Several times I have had a laugh and also, as always, I was moved because it has very cute moments.

Jess is again experiencing an existential crisis because when planning her brother’s marriage she realized that being an event planner was not the career she was looking for, and that means again that she will have to tell her parents that she will seek a new career. Allied to this is Blake, a mistake committed a few months before that insists on reappearing in her life, after all, besides being the best friend of the bride and groom, he is the best man.

Blake shows that he has more behind his mountain of muscles and that he has a person with a giant heart that does anything for those he loves. Impossible not to fall in love with him and be heartbroken with the things that happened to him and yet shaped him to be this special person.

Good Boy is part of the Wag’s series and is a spin-off of the duo Him and Us, which unfortunately has not yet arrived here in Brazil. The second book in the series, Stay, is coming out soon and I can not wait.
