These Royals will ruin you.
Easton Royal has it all: looks, money, intelligence. His goal in life is to have as much fun as possible. He never thinks about the consequences because he doesn’t have to.
Until Hartley Wright appears, shaking up his easy life. She’s the one girl who’s said no, despite being attracted to him. Easton can’t figure her out and that makes her all the more irresistible.
Hartley doesn’t want him. She says he needs to grow up.
She might be right.
Rivals. Rules. Regrets. For the first time in Easton’s life, wearing a Royal crown isn’t enough. He’s about to learn that the higher you start, the harder you fall.
Although common, the plot of this book leads you to a different reading experience. Since the book is 100% narrated from Easton’s POV, a large part of the story remained a mystery and hard to get to the truth.
He is a dense, dark and complex character, and at the same time, Easton is so childish, immature, stubborn and arrogant that is impossible stop laughing, because his thoughts come close to the bizarre. His ideas are so strange, that border on the comic. He’s the kind of guy you’ve seen before. Funny, charming, seductive, and at the same time, he uses aggressiveness as a shield when he is displeased.
I found the explanation of his personality excellent. The feeling that he is real, that he exists somewhere in this world has been very intense for me. No perfection for him, but a total fascination. He acts inadequate and then comes with that conqueror’s grin.
I could not tell you whether I liked this book more or less than Reed’s trilogy. I would say that was different for me. But I certainly like Ella more than Hartley. It’s hard to identify with her without understanding what she thinks. And it is in her that the mystery dwells. As we do not know what she thinks and Easton lives in a parallel world, I finished the book without knowing if she actually corresponded to his feelings.
I mean, it’s obvious that she does, after all, it’s a romance. But she is difficult to interpret, so stubborn as he is, she has so many hidden secrets, that even after she has revealed them, I still have not formed an opinion about her.
And the end? Ahh, just reading to know, but I can tell you it’s something you do not expect. Now we have again to wait until the next book so we can know what these genius and sadistic authors have been up to.
Fallen Heir goes live TOMORROW, August 28th! Are you ready?
